PAS calls for muzakarah a warning to DAP & PKR to comply with their demands or face a split in Pakatan

After the recent flap over PAS President Dato’ Seri Hadi Awang saying that PAS will amend the Federal Constitution to make Islam a way of life, or addin, which saw its Pakatan comrades DAP and PKR not willing to take a proper stand over the issue, PAS has now resorted to more desperate tactics to get their way.

The whole issue of PAS calling a muzakarah is a warning to both DAP and the non-Muslim leaders in PKR that PAS is indeed adamant on enforcing hudud law and establishing a theocratic state, whereby if DAP and PKR want to take over Putrajaya, it is best that they comply with PAS.

By calling for a muzakarah, PAS is indirectly threatening DAP and PKR that they can break ranks with them and to form partnerships with others who are more willing to accommodate their hardline stand. Earlier on 12 May 2012, PAS Dewan Ulama chief Dato’ Harun Taib was also reported to have said that PAS will implement hudud with other similar pacts if their Pakatan partners do not agree with it.

Thus, it is proven that Pakatan Rakyat is not a proper coalition and that it is liable to fall apart at any time. Allies are not supposed to threaten each other, but what PAS is doing is a form of intimidation and bullying, coercing DAP and PKR to step in line with their demands, such as allocating them more seats, so that they can claim to have the backing of the people through this so-called consensus when they start to establish a theocratic state.

It is sad to see DAP cowering to PAS like this. DAP’s stand on secularism is being trodden on, and if DAP was sincere in their stand of keeping to the Federal Constitution, the Rocket should stand up to PAS, and if need be, leave the Pakatan coalition which DAP once did deserted the Barisan Alternatif. Instead, it is forced to bow down to PAS because DAP is aware that it is unable to take over Putrajaya without PAS.

Hidden elements within DAP trying to do away with Tunku Aziz

Penang DAP Chairman Chow Kon Yeow has revealed that while the State Committee had approved of the renewal of Tunku Abdul Aziz’s senatorship, yet he was still dropped off his post during the final stages. Isn’t it obvious there was foul-play by someone who seek to freeze out Tunku Abdul Aziz for not toeing the party line, causing this dramatic turn of events?

The people each had their own thoughts on this issue with DAP leaders citing irreconcilable differences as the cause for his resignation, while avid DAP supporters thought that Tunku Abdul Aziz quitted due to shame from DAP’s refusal to renew his senatorship. There are others who believe that someone behind the scenes is set on tarnishing his reputation. These are all DAP’s ugly tactics. This is a prime example of DAP supporters flocking together to discredit any ‘opponents’ to DAP to eliminate all that stands in their way.

To shake off the deep-rooted impression that DAP houses no Malay leaders, the higher ranks of DAP sought to offer RM50,000 to Tunku Aziz to retain his services. The upright and just Tunku Aziz rightly so did not appreciate this gesture and thought it was a grave insult to him. If this sort of events were to happen with BN, Pakatan is bound to attack BN profusely.

Tunku Aziz has, in the NTV7 interview, criticized the mess that DAP had brought on to themselves. He was disappointed that there was a key party member who had set up the Rocket Café in Petaling Jaya without a valid operating license by the Petaling Jaya Municipal Council. Besides that, he stated that there was a previous occasion when an important leader prevented the local government from taking action against illegal stall owners because they were DAP supporters. These examples prove that DAP does not take the country’s welfare at heart. They will not hesitate to use the state government’s power to protect their interests.

I dare Lim Guan Eng to claim that it wasn't because of Tunku Aziz’s remarks on the April 28 rally that his senatorship was dropped. If that was not the reason, he should boldly address the public instead of issuing press statements to clarify on this matter. He must win back the people’s trust or his reputation will be tarnished.

I trust that the people’s impression on Lim Guan Eng has changed significantly after this event. The situation would not have come to this, if DAP tolerates differences in opinions among its leaders and had appreciate the contributions of Tunku Aziz as what Lim Guan Eng had claimed. All attempts to fix the situation is nothing but a political act now.

Lim Guan Eng deceives to hurt others, distorts truth on temples

16 May 2012

Lim Guan Eng plays with deception and falsely blames others for the demolition of the Tua Pek Kong temple in Butterworth. I am extremely shocked and ashamed of his accusations.

The temple demolition issue is another typical attempt of Penang DAP to slander MCA by distorting the truth to turn the people against the BN government.

On 29 June 2009, the Tua Pek Kok temple committee held a press conference confirming that one of the buildings demolished by the Seberang Perai Municipal Council was definitely their new temple. This puts to stop any argument by DAP that the demolished building was not a ‘temple’. There is no need to further include 3 State Assemblymen and the Penang Exco on Non-Islamic Religious Affairs to handle this matter. Pakatan cannot deny that it was in fact a Chinese temple that was demolished.

One of the local residents has also confirmed that a new branch of the Tua Pek Kok temple was demolished. He said that the residents intended to seek the government’s approval for the construction of a new temple for worship and prayer purposes. However, before they could submit their application request, the state government moved to destroy it. 3 days after the incident, the Pakatan government immediately released a joint statement to quell all fires.

It is easy to see what sort of person Lim Guan Eng is from the above evidences. He will not hesitate to spread deception and anti-Barisan Nasional government propagandas to boost his publicity. Press statements and conferences are all his tools to cover up the truth. Lim Guan Eng hides behind the shadows of NGOs, manipulating them to pin any blame on BN to protect himself. Lim Guan Eng dragging the Bagan Tua Pek Kok temple committee to speak on his behalf is a prime example.

I urge Lim Guan Eng not to play hide-and-seek and address this matter properly. Do not discredit us behind our backs. Do compete with us based on credentials. Lying is the simplest form of self-defence. Quit playing tricks for cheap publicity and start taking practical actions.

Wanita MCA Penang – Protestors must stay away from private residences

While the DAP-led Penang administration’s dismal performance has let down Penangites despite its promise to deliver changes it claimed it would, and more recently, the jibe by the Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng at the Penang state assembly that Hindu temples would be demolished should UMNO return warrants criticism, it should be pointed out that Perkasa’s “funeral rites” antic at the DAP Secretary General personal residence or Ikhlas grilling burgers just outside the home premises of Bersih chairman Dato’ Ambiga Sreenevasa as a sign of protest against income loss during the Bersih 3.0 protest on 28 April 2012 must be chastised.
During 2008 the general election campaign period, Pakatan supporters had also misused my photograph as a funeral rite. Back then however, Pakatan candidates and leaders did not chide this debased stunt by their supporters. Although Pakatan supporters did this to me, I do not condone and will condemn such similar actions taken on any political rival.
As a female politician and social activist, I can comprehend Dato’ Ambiga’s idealism and principles she upholds, although I do not agree with all the contents or method of taking to the streets when Stadium Merdeka was offered considering that was the location which the organisers requested for Bersih 2.0.
However, I call on all detractors objecting against the Penang Chief Minister and Bersih organisers to leave their respective family members and neighbours alone. They are innocent and neutral parties and should not be subjected to bad-mannered behaviour, more particularly in one’s private residential when differences of political differences abound.
Detractors should resort to the law by filing whatever claims they may have against Guan Eng or Bersih at court. If they insist, then stage a peaceful protest outside the Komtar building, Bersih headquarters in accordance with the law after notifying the authorities and receiving the nod.
Malaysians’ security accorded by law
I urge the DAP-led state government to improve on their shortcomings to the people. I also condemn the violence towards the media personnel, the public and the police that erupted during the Bersih 3.0 protests in Kuala Lumpur.
Nevertheless Guan Eng, Dato’ Ambiga and their family members are fellow Malaysian citizens and deserve equal and full protection of the law from intimidation or trespass or such less than welcome behaviour as exhibited yesterday by Perkasa and Ikhlas.
Demonstration can grow out of hand
Meanwhile, I hope that the Penang Chief Minister, Bersih members and any other groups now take cognition that in regularly urging the masses to take to the streets, the disturbing subsequent reactions displayed by Perkasa and Ikhlas or street demonstration spiraling out of control are possible unfortunate repercussions which any decent civilization would hope to and must take steps to avoid.

Press statement by Wanita MCA Penang Chairman Sdri Tan Cheng Liang
Lim Guan Eng should ask himself whether Pakatan state governments are free from demolishing temples
Lim Guan Eng’s attempt at challenging the Heavens warrants criticism. He claims that the Penang State Government holds the state population’s best interest at heart and condemned Penang UMNO for demolishing religious sites. How hypocritical he is when local authorities in Pakatan-led state governments too have demolished temples, leading to grievances among the people.
The DAP Secretary General had remarked at the Penang state assembly - “If UMNO returns to power, all Hindu temples will be demolished.” Before Lim Guan Eng utters such a remark, he should ask himself boldly whether the Penang State Government has never demolished any temples and never has insulted any religious groups.
The Penang State Government had pledged to oppose any attempts to demolish religious sites. However in these 4 years, DAP has proven to be a disappointment to the people. The demolition of the Tua Pek Kong temple at Butterworth is the most significant example. It is really disgraceful of Lim Guan Eng to shirk his responsibilities and act out in the public’s eye instead.
Hindu shrines destroyed in other Pakatan-led states
In addition to Penang, other Pakatan states including Kedah, Penang and Selangor also had incidences where Hindu shrines were demolished. None will be spared as long as it is a Pakatan controlled state.
Besides Penang where the Tua Pek Kong temple in Butterworth was demolished, a Hindu shrine and a Chinese temple was also torn down in Sungai Petani, Kedah. In Selangor, a Hindu temple in Ampang was also demolished causing 300 Indians to stage a peaceful demonstration in front of the Selangor state government building.
I urge Lim Guan Eng that if Penang government wants a citizen-centric state government, he should implement fair and just rulings during the State Assembly to fulfill his promises. He must not allow any schools, religious sites, mosques, prayer rooms, Christian churches, Hindu or Buddhist temples to be torn down.

Lim Guan Eng preaching false democracy dares to call for press freedom

I feel disdained that Lim Guan Eng claims to completely support the freedom of press but violates it by portraying a false image of being a democratic leader.
I say this in regard to yesterday’s news about the initiative which allows journalists to write messages to the elected representatives in scores of yellow notes which were pasted on panels facing the main door at the Penang state assembly hall. However, the spotlight was shone on Lim Guan Eng as a number of negative messages were directed to him. Among them were regarding his inaccuracy in answering reporters’ questions and biased treatment to members of the press.
How hypocritical of Lim Guan Eng to call for press freedom when his actions do not reflect the same. He boasts about his support for press freedom, but bars Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian reporters from interviewing him at the Penang State Assembly at the same time. Oh, the irony.
The most important aspect of press freedom is to give the press complete liberty in handling their publication of news from a neutral and impartial stance. However, whenever Lim Guan Eng feels the news does not suit to his taste, he goes on to accuse the press of bias and favoritism towards the other parties.
Besides that, Lim Guan Eng was also chided for selectively responding to certain questions by reporters and on several occasions, not answering them clearly. He was also told to not blame and criticize reporters from the media. I think that it has become a usual approach for him to turn a deaf ear towards questions which are unfavourable to him.
During the ceremony when the Penang State government provided funds for 84 Chinese primary schools, Lim Guan Eng also publicly threatened those schools from subscribing to newspapers which have indifferent opinions towards DAP and the Opposition coalition. These include Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian. He threatened that he will not allocate funds for the following year if they failed to do so. Are these actions from a “role model” of press freedom?
